In 1929, the provincial government of Saskatchewan founded the Saskatchewan Power Commission. The SPC was given the goal of connecting Saskatchewan’s many rural residents with the fledgling energy grids already serving Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, and other small cities and towns. Eventually the SPC was refounded as SaskPower, and given an exclusive franchise as the only province-wide distributor of electricity, and province’s only regulated provider of natural gas.
While Saskatchewan residents cannot yet purchase their electricity from retail alternatives to SaskPower, there are many commercial natural gas providers that offer competitive rates to the province’s homeowners and businesses.
At Energyrates.ca, our goal is to equip you with the information you need to make informed energy choices, and secure the best possible natural gas rates. If you have specialized needs, we can work with you to identify the natural gas retailer that best meets the needs of your home, business, or industrial operation.
