What is Sponsor Energy?

Sponsor Energy Inc. is a socially and environmentally conscious energy company located in Calgary, Alberta. They offer electricity and natural gas services, as well as various internet plans.

Sponsor Energy entered the business of energy retailing in order to provide more competition in Alberta’s electricity market and to provide more choice and better prices for energy consumers.

What’s unique about Sponsor Energy is that they share 50% of the profits from each customer’s electricity and natural gas plans with charities without additional cost to the customer. Plus, each customer gets to decide which community partner/charity they want their electricity and natural gas usage to support.

Some of the organizations that Sponsor Energy and its customers help support include: Foothills Stingrays (a swim club that helps young swimmers develop their skills), HOPE Mission, the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS), the Alberta Cancer Foundation and several others. You can find a full list of Sponsor Energy’s community partners and more information about them.

Sponsor Energy plans and rates

There are Sponsor energy rates for both residential consumers as well as businesses. For residential consumers, they offer ‘the freedom plan’, which is a floating rate for electricity and/or natural gas. This plan is based on the direct wholesale cost of energy, which fluctuates from month to month based on the energy market’s conditions.

For small businesses, as well as commercial and industrial facilities, Sponsor Energy provides custom quotes. You can find Sponsor Energy’s contact information further down below.

Sponsor Energy bill payment

Sponsor Energy takes payment through pre-authorized bank withdrawal, so providing Sponsor Energy with a copy of your bank details is necessary. You can create a Sponsor Energy login and keep track of your bills and information through the My Account page.

Sponsor Energy green energy plans

When it comes to green energy, Sponsor Energy offers solar installations which can help lower your energy bills as well as help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. There are seven steps when it comes to solar installations with Sponsor Energy:

  6. Installation of your solar energy system by a qualified installer.
  7. You now have your own solar-powered home.

Sponsor Energy reviews

Overall, one of the main reasons customers like Sponsor Energy is because it gives back to the community through giving 50% of its natural gas and electricity profits from each customer to various community partners.

Many customers find Sponsor Energy’s rates to be competitive, even though they share a large proportion of profits with charities.

Other Sponsor Energy services

In addition to electricity and natural gas services, Sponsor Energy also offers internet services. They offer three different plans: Internet 75, Internet 150, and Internet 300 (in order from slowest to fastest.)

It’s worth noting that there’s a one-time $100 activation fee to cover the cost of equipment rentals (modem and router) as well as shipping. Plus, the pricing for these plans is only applicable for customers in the Shaw service areas of BC, AB, SK, MB, and ON.

You can find more information about the internet plans that Sponsor Energy offers on their official page for internet plans.
