ATCOenergy (competitive energy retailer)
ATCOenergy is one of the main electricity and natural gas providers in Alberta. The energy retailer’s services are available in most municipalities in the province, including Edmonton, Calgary, Grande Prairie, and Fort McMurray. In 2016, ATCOenergy recognized the need for a different kind of energy company in Alberta’s deregulated energy market. According to the retailer, providing positive energy to the people of Alberta means giving customers the freedom to choose a plan that works for them, their home or business, and the life they live.
As a retailer of electricity and natural gas that focuses on what it calls “energy plans made for Albertans,” ATCOenergy provides Alberta residents with customizable plans, flexible payment methods, competitive energy rates and green options from renewable sources such as wind and solar. These energy solutions are for residential and small business consumers.
ATCOenergy rates and plans
ATCOenergy provides a wide range of residential and small business plans with a variety of energy rates and features. The Alberta-based retail gas and power company offers value and savings for Albertans through innovative energy products and flexible plans.
ATCOenergy’s plans provide customers with a range of options and term lengths, including one, two, three, or five-year guaranteed or variable rate plans. Residential customers have an option for a special type of variable rate plan that has no monthly administration fee or built-in markups per kWh or per GJ. Instead, a daily access fee allows customers to pay only the market rate for electricity and natural gas.
Electricity Guaranteed Price: A stable rate option that allows your price per kWh to remain the same despite market fluctuations. Your consumption charge will be based on an all-in rate for each kWh you use, which means your price will vary based on consumption, not market fluctuations.
Natural Gas Guaranteed Price: A stable rate option that allows your price per GJ to remain the same despite market fluctuations. Your charge will vary based on your monthly consumption amount alone.
Electricity ATCO Advantage Price (residential only): Provides exposure to market fluctuations as well as changes in consumption rates. It is provided through a consumption-weighted average flow-through of the market price with a daily access fee.
Electricity Variable Price (small business only): Provides exposure to market fluctuations as well as changes in consumption rates. It is provided through a consumption-weighted average flow-through of the market price with an administration fee.
Natural Gas Variable Price (small business only): Provides exposure to monthly fluctuations in both natural gas charges and consumption rates that are based on a temperature-weighted average flow-through of the market price of natural gas with an administration fee.
Green Energy: You can select to offset 25% or 100% of your electricity with renewable sources, such as hydro, wind and solar, for a small premium that is charged on your consumption in kWh.
