Rocky Mountain Community Energy offers natural gas and electricity, as they are a tradename of UTILITYnet. They are the first community generator to install community-owned solar in all of Alberta.
As an energy provider/marketer, Rocky Mountain Community Energy provides electricity and natural gas services to the entirety of Alberta, including Edmonton, Calgary, Leduc and many other cities.

Rocky Mountain Community Energy provides both fixed and floating energy rates – here is a quick summary of the plans they offer for both fixed and floating electricity and natural gas services. Note that for any of these plans, you may cancel at any time with no penalty and that all plans include a monthly admin fee.
Rocky Mountain Community Energy Fixed Electricity Rate Plans
- Flex 1 (+prudential) – Price is guaranteed for one year.
- Flex 3 (+prudential + 100% green) – Price is guaranteed for three years.
- Flex 3 (+prudential) – Price is guaranteed for three years.
- Flex 3 (no prudential required) – Price is guaranteed for three years.
- Flex 5 Summer Solar Club Rate – Price is guaranteed for three years. This plan is available seasonally for net exporters of energy, or people who export more energy than they import.
Rocky Mountain Community Energy Fixed Natural Gas Rates
- Flex 1 (+prudential) – Price is guaranteed for one year.
- Flex 1 (no prudential required) – Price is guaranteed for one year.
Rocky Mountain Community Energy Floating Electricity Rate
- Floating electricity rates vary by month. The floating rate for electricity is calculated as the cost of energy plus the retailer’s margin – you can find more information here.
Rocky Mountain Community Energy Floating Natural Gas Rate
- Floating natural gas rates vary by month. Like with electricity floating rates, the floating rate for natural gas is calculated as the cost of energy plus the retailer’s margin.
In addition to regular fixed and floating energy rates, Rocky Mountain Community Energy also provides green energy plans in partnership with Bow Valley Green Co-Op.
Rocky Mountain Community Energy payment methods
Currently, Rocky Mountain Community Energy allows for payment through pre-authorized chequing/debit accounts as their only form of payment. Your payment and bills can be found in your online account, as bills are digitally processed and available to see.
