ACE Energy Electricity Plans & Natural Gas Rates

Alberta Co-operative Energy (ACE Energy) is an energy provider located in Thorhild, Alberta. ACE energy operates as a member-owned energy retailer who supports renewable energy production in Alberta. Through their partnership with SPARK (a member-owned retail electrical power co-operative focused on green energy and renewable energy reinvestment), ACE customers have contributed over $70,000 to local generators who provide renewable energy to Alberta’s energy grid.

As a competitive energy retailer, ACE Energy services in Alberta include both electricity and natural gas. There’s also Gas Alberta Energy, which is a part of ACE Co-Op that sells affordable gas to customers outside the gas co-op boundaries.

In general, ACE Energy serves most regions of Alberta, including Edmonton and Calgary.

ACE Energy rates

There are ACE Energy solutions for residential as well as commercial energy customers. What you’ll pay depends on which of their plans you select. Like many other energy retailers, ACE energy offers variable and fixed rates for both natural gas and electricity. These rates will differ based on how much electricity or natural gas you consume per year (over or under 250,000 kWh for electricity and over or under 2,500 GJ for natural gas.)

Commercial programs are available for customers who use more than 250,000 kWh and 2,500 GJ per year. For such customers, ACE Energy collaborates with their partner Gas Alberta Energy to develop a competitive program that will meet their needs based on their unique energy requirements.

If you can’t decide between a variable rate or a fixed rate, ACE energy lets you have the best of both options with their FUSION program rate. Your energy rate will be a floating rate when its affordable and locks in a rate when things change.

If at any point you want to switch energy retailers, ACE energy doesn’t charge any penalties – all you need to do is provide 30-day’s notice if you’re signed up with their FUSION program.

ACE Green energy rates and programs

If you’d prefer a more environmentally friendly option, ACE Energy has two options for you to consider: The SPARK’s Green Offset program and the Spark Green Generator rate.

The SPARK’s Green Offset program allows you to purchase locally generated green offset credits from solar, wind or other renewable energy generators in Alberta. It’s as simple as signing up for an ACE energy plan and choosing what percentage of power usage you would like to be green energy (note that the minimum percentage for this program is 25 percent.)

On the other hand, the Spark Green Generator rate is an option worth considering for people who generate their own renewable power (such as solar power) and have an excess of it. ACE energy provides micro-generators in Alberta with fair rates for the renewable electricity they sell to put back into the grid.

If you find that you’re not exporting as much energy at any point, you can switch to any of their other energy rates without fees of penalties.

ACE Energy bills and bill payment

You can access your bill online via your e-mail or you can register to use the My Account feature on ACE energy’s website. You can also have your bill mailed to you instead.

When it comes to paying your energy bill, there are a few options: you can pay via direct debit from your bank account, a credit card (a transaction fee will apply) and on-line or telephone banking.
