This solar calculator tool combines your energy consumption data (in kWh) with regional data to produce a hypothetical estimate of the size and capacity of preferred installation, cost, and payback period of a solar installation.
We sourced data from the International Energy Agency (National Survey Report of PV Power Applications in Canada 2024) and National Resources Canada (Photovoltaic potential and solar resource maps of Canada) for this Solar calculator.
To find the cost per Watt of each solar installation for each province, we calculated the mean of the data. The numbers for the Solar Photovoltaic Potential for each municipality were calculated using South-facing solar panels with a latitudinal tilt for optimal performance.
