Transferring Electricity and Natural Gas Services to a New Address<\/h2>\n

When moving from one home to another within the province of Saskatchewan, there are two ways to change the address of your electricity and natural gas services. You may contact SaskEnergy and SaskPower individually by calling their offices and request to update your account address. However, the more convenient route is to use the online ExpressAddress<\/a> service.<\/p>\n

ExpressAddress is a service that makes it easy to request a change of address for not only your electricity and natural gas services, but also for vehicle registrations, driver\u2019s licenses, and health cards. SaskEnergy, SaskPower the cities of Regina and Saskatoon, and other organizations have all collaborated in the launch of ExpressAddress, which is the recommended means of updating your home address.<\/p>\n

How to Set up Utilities in Saskatchewan: Starting or Stopping Energy Services<\/h2>\n

In order to start or stop electricity services in Saskatchewan, two days\u2019 advance notice is required. This notice can be provided directly to SaskPower by calling 1-888-757-6937. Upon the restarting of services, a connection fee of $15 to $40 will be charged on your first SaskPower bill.<\/p>\n

To stop or start natural gas service, contact SaskEnergy by calling 1-888-700-0427.<\/p>\n

Renewing Natural Gas Agreements or Changing Natural Gas Retailers<\/h2>\n

When renewing an agreement with a natural gas retailer, or changing your natural gas supplier, there are multiple important dates to remember if you wish to avoid being charged a short change notice.<\/p>\n

To change your commodity rate supplier, agreements must be signed and submitted prior to September 15th<\/sup> for a start date of November 1st<\/sup>. Agreements must be signed for a 1- to 5-year term. If a new agreement is not reached prior to the end date of the agreement, it is standard practice for most retailers to automatically enroll customers in 1-year holdover agreements on a recurring basis until a new agreement is secured. If you cancel your agreement, SaskEnergy will automatically resume being your natural gas supplier, and service will not be interrupted.<\/p>\n

What is ExpressAddress?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

ExpressAddress was launched in 2003 as a joint initiative between the city of Saskatoon<\/a> and Regina<\/a>, along with SaskPower, SaskTel, SaskEnergy, and SGI to better help Saskatchewan residents with customer services. By allowing people to transfer, connect, or disconnect services and update their address while moving with multiple organizations \u2013 it helps save time and effort. ExpressAddress can be accessed on a desktop or with a smart device such as a phone or tablet. New organizations can be added anytime, and it has continually grown to include more participating companies.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is the recommended means to update your home address in Saskatchewan. Besides natural gas and electricity, it also covers any changes you might need regarding health cards, vehicle registrations, and driver\u2019s licenses. It\u2019s an easy way to transfer over your information while moving and is recommended by the province itself to use over calling your utility providers separately.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How does ExpressAddress work?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Signing up for and using ExpressAddress is easy and only takes a few minutes of your time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Start by creating an account and profile on the <\/span>ExpressAddress website<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Choose the type of service request you need and which of the participating organizations you would like the request sent to. You can connect services, disconnect services, or transfer your service from one address to another, or update your address when moving.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Review the information to ensure that it is correct and submit your request. You can also save your session and return to it later to complete the submission at a later time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. A transaction number will be sent to you indicating that your request was successfully received by ExpressAddress.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    It is completely free to use this service and your account will be valid for 30 days to complete your request. After 30 days all user account information and\/or data entered will be deleted.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    How is it related to utilities?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Express Address is related to utilities as they can help you transfer, start, and disconnect utilities in one easy place and most major utility providers in Saskatchewan are participating in using this company and encourage users to do so.
